Old friends are the best, part 2.

So, remember last Friday, I went out and met my old friend John and had a super time hanging out with him? I ended up meeting him once again last night, along with our other buddy John too! I haven’t seen THAT guy in well over a year – it was so great to see him and catch up a little!! The three of us hung out together all the time when we were in college. And as much fun as it is to reminisce about the old days, it sure makes me feel fucking old! I seriously don’t feel like 18 years has passed since we all started hanging out together.

I think we’ve aged pretty well, don’t you??

Old friends are the best!

Last night, I met Paul and a couple of his friends at Hooties for a few happy hour beers. My buddy John from Back In The Day met us there as well, and it was sooooo great to see him! I can’t even remember the last time I saw him – I think it was during that Bangles fiasco about 18 months ago! We did lots of catching up, he told me all about his horrible new job that he hates, I got to find out the true (and completely noble and heroic) reasons he dropped out of a program he was in on a career path change, we talked all about my kids, I vented about the whole process one must go through to get an autism diagnosis and then find services for a kid like Pablo, etc. etc. etc. Get a few beers on me and I’ve got shit to TALK about, man. I was on my soapbox for an embarrassing amount of time. But, it’s all good.

After we talked about everything going on in our lives for the past year, we reminisced about all our hangout time in the early 90s, when we were neighbors and buddies and college students. We spent a whole summer with matching broken left arms, listening to cast jokes from all our other friends. Bringing that up is always good for a few laughs! It was so much fun to see him. I love that guy. He’s like family!

And then, Paul and I spent a few more hours together, ALONE, talking about the sorts of deep subjects you can really only delve into when you’ve had six pints of Corona and a plate of buffalo shrimp. It was a super night.

Feelin’ a little pitiful today, though!
