Wow, is it that simple?

I’ve been searching for my writing mojo for a long time now. I miss how easy it was to journal our days, sharing all the ups and downs of life with five children. Seems like in that last part of 2008, when I was battling constant headaches, thought I was dying from a brain tumor, had my gall bladder extracted, and packed up my whole life to move across town, I just…lost it! And even though we’ve been settled into our new place for a year and a half, I still can’t seem to sit down and WRITE. I miss it.

I was just reading this blog entry from a friend of mine, where she shares the news that she’s leaving her editor job at Mile High Mamas to pursue writing full time – she’s writing a book! Did you know I’m writing a book too? That’s what I tell people, anyway. I started it in 2008, but I’ve spent embarrassingly little time on it in the past year. Here’s the part of my friend’s post that’s sticking with me:

A long time ago, I wrote myself a note. It says, quite simply, “Writers write.” Part of me thought it was silly to state the obvious. The other part of me was shocked at how powerful it was in its simplicity.

Wow, is it that simple? Maybe it is.

We’re about to start a new chapter in our lives over here, as all four of the little ones will be in school, starting next week. For the first time since 2003, I’ll have free time to myself every single weekday. Is that just crazy? I think I’m going to move my book project off of that back burner. Hopefully some of that will spill over to my blog as well!

  2. Yay! I am so glad my post was inspirational for you! For fear of sounding too cheesy, I’ll refrain from saying, “You can do it!”…but you know I totally believe that, right? ;)

I can’t wait to hear more about your book!
