Powderpuff Derby Update
Well, we figured out how to build the little car. Paul and Mallory spent a few hours together working on it (literally just a few hours – they started with a block of wood at 2 p.m. on Friday; registration and weigh-in was at 6:30 on Friday!) Mallory enjoyed painting it, too. Here they are with her finished car:
Mallory’s car did not do so hot in the race. I believe she came in 20th place, out of like…26 girls. So, at least she wasn’t dead last – but now we know some tips and tricks for next year. One of the engineers Paul knows from work was actually running the race – he’s the “keeper” of the track for the boy scouts, and Paul picked his brain as to what makes for a winning car. He gave Paul the enginerd explanation as to why you need to add weight to the car, and what to do with the axles, and all of that. I have a feeling next year, we’ll start working on that little car BEFORE race day.
Here are our cute girls with their cars – such a fun event!

Hah! Oh yeah – I got the whole scoop on why weight needs to be added and whatnot. Some of the sporting goods stores and the boy scout council store actually carry kits to make your car even more cool! Stickers and whatnot!
