We don’t need to tie that shit down.

Paul and I were driving to Home Depot the other night when we saw these geniuses. I know the picture is kind of dark, so I’ll explain exactly what you’re looking at: it’s a bunch of furniture piled into the bed of a pickup truck, with a dude just standing back there on the open tailgate, holding onto it so it doesn’t fall out.

Is it that hard to remember to bring some rope when picking up your new furniture?

I saw something similar on the interstate here last week, except the truck I saw had NO one in the back holding in their futon and futon mattress. The mattress flew off as they sped off and came right at me. Thankfully it hit the ground and flattened out right before I got to it.

god, how i love you! between you and heather over at dooce, i seem to never be at a loss for something humorous to either read or look at.

i mean, hello? moron? if the driver hits the brakes, like, a split second too soon or too hard, who gives a shit about the furniture? your ASS is going to be spread over four lanes of traffic, you jackass.

I was 13 years old when my sister had my nephew. When he was one or two – she decided that a wading pool was the answer to the hot, humid Nebraska summer. So over to town we went (Nebraska/ South Dakota border – over a mile long double decker bridge) to pick up a wading pool at TG&Y or ALCO… anyone remember those?
We were driving a little short bed pick up and the little plastic wading pool was bound to fly out of the back – so Brenda told me to lie in the pool to hold it down on the trip over the bridge and over the highway! There I was all… X with a head! But might I suggest, safer than the dude in your example?!

The thing (among many) that absolutely KILLS me about this is why once they realized what their dilemma would be once they loaded it in, that they didn’t maybe consider a run to Lowe’s for rope (or even to Michael’s for yarn, for Heaven’s sake) Craziness!
