Rabbit, Rabbit
Good morning! Wow, February 1st already? I feel like I lost some time somewhere! Probably robbed from me by Nyquil! I’m thrilled to report that we’re on the road to good health. Mallory and Pablo went back to school yesterday, and the little girls are doing much better too. Kayley and Paul are the sickos now. Hopefully they’ll get over it quickly. I’ve already decided that I’m not going to baby Paul much, since (in the interest of not getting sick himself, I’m sure) he left me on my own most of the weekend to deal with a houseful of sick children while I was sick myself. He did stick around all week getting Pablo to school for me in the mornings, so I can’t bitch too much. In addition, he took it upon himself to fix a big problem at school that was going to prevent Pablo from going on any more field trips this year. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, you know. Yay for conflict resolution.
Yesterday, the little girls and I headed over to Target and restocked our fridge and pantry – they were looking pretty bad! We also got a bunch of diapers and TP and Airborne and enjoyed being out of this HOUSE for a little while. And I found mittens for everyone for 75% off! Today, we’re going to pick up Mallory from school and then head over to Sam’s Club and get the obligatory Sam’s Club giant bags of chicken nuggets and string cheese. And I’d love to get Pablo a haircut while we’re out, but I don’t know if that’s going to happen or not.
Exciting day, eh?
Oh, and I talked to my sissie last night. It’s been awhile since we’ve chatted on the phone, although she’s never far from my mind. She’s really ill right now, and scheduled for gallbladder surgery next Wednesday. Fingers crossed that she feels better before then and that her surgery goes off as planned! She’s been holding out for awhile, waiting for her insurance to kick in – that’s so hard! She’s got a new job she’s loving, writing ads for a newspaper. I’m so proud of her!
Off I go, to clean up the kitchen and tidy/vacuum the living room so we don’t come back home to a dirty house. I hate that! Have a super weekend.

Hey Laura! I love your blog! Anyways I just wanted to tell ya I just had gall bladder surgery on Sunday and I’m feeling great. The gall bladder attacks are 1000 times worse than recovery from the surgery thats for sure. I even had a blockage in my common bile duct so I ended up staying for 3 days but all is well now. I hope your sister recovers quickly. I’ll be thinking of her

laura, she’s put off gallbladder surgery? is she absolutely nuts?! about 3 years ago, i got dreadfully sick. when i got to the point where i couldn’t stand up straight because my belly hurt so bad, i finally went to the hospital.
turns out, i had gallbladder pancreatitis. and in fact, i was so sick i had to lie in a hospital bed for 5 days eating absolutely nothing, and the only liquid i could have came from these spongy things i could suck on – that’s how long it took for me to be well enough to have surgery.
i now have chronic pancreatitis from that whole episode. i know surgery is expensive, but your sister could have easily died from an infection.
at any rate, i hope she gets well soon.

Oh wow Laura your poor sister. I had to wait to get til I was five months pregnant when I had my gallstones to have my surgery so I know she will have such a great relief after the surgery! Hope all goes well.
