Wedding Weekend

We went to Paul’s coworker’s wedding on Saturday, and it was so much fun! Honestly, I wasn’t really looking forward to it all that much, because I don’t know the guy, and I always feel weird hanging out at a wedding where I don’t know anybody! But it was SO much fun. The ceremony was lovely – the priest was downright charismatic, and made everyone laugh multiple times throughout his sermon. The reception was REALLY fun – the DJ is another coworker of Paul’s, so we chatted with him for awhile. Jen and Jason They had the reception at a fancy hotel ballroom, so the food was actually good, not like the usual crap you see at weddings. The last wedding we went to had “prime rib” and it was like, worse than the meat you get at Country Buffet, from the guy slicing it under the giant heat lamp. Not like that at this wedding – we had this stuffed chicken breast thing, with roasted red peppers and a cream cheese sauce, with really yummy veggies and roasted new potatoes. And even the salad was good – it had that fancy lettuce which I love, and which Paul refers to as “ragweed.” But, the best thing of all was the open bar! Haha! They had Fat Tire beer on tap and various wines for free, and we drank, like, TWENTY of those Fat Tires, since we were seated right next to the bartender. He became our new best friend, too. Paul and I danced a bunch, and we had SO much fun. It was actually BETTER that we didn’t know anybody, because we spend about 6 hours together, just talking to each other! And you know how it is – the drunker you get, the better the conversation! We talked about all KINDS of stuff we haven’t talked about in a long, long time. We were actually the last people to leave the wedding! In our defense, though, we were helping the DJ break down his stuff, so I didn’t feel TOO pathetic when the bride and groom came over to say goodbye and we realized the entire room was empty! Super fun night. I was HURTING yesterday morning, though. More a side effect of staying out until 3 am than drinking Fat Tire all night, I’m thinking. That’s just not my life!
