Where’s the map?

The girls and I went to a great little park yesterday. It has lots of nice equipment and benches to sit on and pretty landscaping and the playground is pretty far from the street. All criteria I look for in a park! We had actually visited this park once before – AGES ago, when Nikki and Lexi were only a few months old and I was part of a different playgroup. And I’ve driven around the neighborhood literally a dozen times or more, trying to find this park again. I don’t know why it was so danged hard for me to find! I kept turning just before the park. I had to ask the secretary at Pablo’s school where it was and have her draw me a little map on scratch paper, because I was starting to think I just dreamed up this park and it didn’t exist at all!

I was so frustrated because I tried to find it on Google Maps, but the satellite photos of my area are at least five years old, because all you see on the map is miles and miles of fields. It is a new area, but our house has been here for four years now, and there were other houses here before ours! So naturally, the place where the park sits now didn’t show up as a park on the map – just as a big piece of flat land! It’s so frustrating to me when I’m trying to find something on a map and I can’t find it!

I actually had the same problem yesterday inside Home Depot. I was trying to find the restrooms and although I found the store map posted up on the wall and saw exactly where the restrooms were, I had to scrutinize the map for another minute or two to figure out how to get to them, because there wasn’t a little “You are HERE!” reference! What the hell? Who made that map? I think Home Depot needs to fire their mapping company!

Ours is old too but not that old I don’t think. You can tell its in the last two years because my neighbor never waters his grass in back and you can see how brown it is from space, lol. He moved in two years ago.
