Okay, I’m ready for wine.
It’s funny to me now that I posted about being able to relax at a playdate because I’d be at my friends’ childproofed house. Ha!! Not that her house isn’t perfectly safe and delightful, but I just have too many children to be able to sit and relax anywhere! I had a super time hanging out with everyone and talking and seeing all the kids, but I am WORN OUT now! I barely sat down for hours, because I kept losing track of a kid – two would be the house, one would be in the baby pool, and one on the playground. And they move like little spies, effortlessly maneuvering in and out of the crowd, unnoticed. The kids had SUCH a great time, though, that it was a real challenge to get them out of there and buckled into the van. I literally had to bribe them, and lead them out of the house one by one with M&M’s.
Of course, it just isn’t a playdate until somebody gets hurt! Nikki took a spill and bumped her head pretty good, and scraped up her leg. Pablo got a huge splinter in his palm and a smaller splinter in the side of his hand. I still haven’t dug them out. I think Lexi was only violated by the pool water. And Mallory only got her feelings hurt, when I had the audacity to make her leave her two best friends behind and come on home.
So, yeah. It was a super fun day, but we’re all worn out, the kids missed naptime, everyone needs a bath, and I fully intend on drinking my dinner tonight. Hope your Friday was as much fun!
