Ever since we went to the garden and home show last weekend, I’ve been seriously itching to do something around here, some little springtime project! I keep thinking I should paint my formal living/dining room - it’s one of the only rooms left in this house that’s still ugly builder-white, but I’ve never been able to accumulate extra time, money to buy paint, and the ambition to do it all at the same time. I know I’m going to regret not doing it if I don’t do it before my MIL moves away, because having a live-in babysitter and not taking advantage of it is just a sin!

It never occurred to me to try and pick out paint online. Did you know there are all kinds of paint stores online where you can browse through paint chips virtually? Even on the big hardware stores’ website, you can check out paint colors. I don’t think I would feel comfortable deciding on a paint color based on how it looked on my monitor! But there are lots of other neat little tools available, like this online estimator for painting costs - you just enter your room dimensions and check a bunch of little boxes for things like windows and doors and wainscoting and it gives you an estimate on what it will cost to paint your room. Neat, huh? I was really getting the bug to paint just browsing through the finished room pictures on that site. Oh, to have unlimited time and money!
