It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
…um, inside Wal-Mart, anyway!!
The girls and I dropped off lil Pablo at school today and then we headed over to Wal-Mart to do our grocery shopping. They had a great selection of pumpkins that I KNOW will be completely picked over before the end of September, so I bought five. Yep, one for each kid. (They’re all little, except for Kayley’s!) While we were there, I wanted to also check out the Halloween costumes, and I was stunned to see that there was like…a row and a half of Halloween stuff, and three rows ALREADY of CHRISTMAS decorations!!! What the…? It’s SEPTEMBER! We haven’t even officially hit the first day of FALL yet, and they have Christmas stuff out? Jeez.
I’m excited about both holidays, though – last Christmas we were all sick and it was SO stressful – I spent Christmas day in bed and all of the kids had a stomach virus too. Real big fun, there. It was the worst Christmas I’ve spent with these children, let me tell ya. And this Christmas is going to be the BEST! I have faith!
And I’m dying to get a new tree this year. I had the most awesome tree in my previous life, and I left it behind when K’s dad and I divorced. And then I inherited my mom’s fakeass ugly tree when she bought a new one. Now there are artifical Christmas trees and then there are artificial Christmas trees, y’know? The one we have looks like a pole with branches stuck in it here and there. You can SEE through it! I hate it. I really want a new one. And don’t tell me to get a real tree either, because I HATE real trees. I hate everything about them (except the wonderful smell; I do miss that!) …I hate that thousands of trees are cut down every year, I hate that real trees are so friggen expensive, I hate that they drop ten bazillion needles all over your carpet, I hate that they’re a fire hazard…my list goes on and on. I’m all about the artificial trees – I just want one that doesn’t look like it came from Dollar General, y’know? Maybe one with prestrung lights, even! We’ll see if it happens this year.
And until then, hey! It’s still summer for a few more days!!
