Okay, so last night was Ladies Night Out with my twin club. Last month they went bowling, which I would never do in a million years, but this month they decided to do “Scrap Mania” at Archiver’s. It was fifteen bucks and was supposed to include “6 hours of crop time, dinner, 3 demonstrations, 1 make-and-take, a goodie bag, and door prizes!”
Well…I guess I shouldn’t bitch, because I did have a good time. I got nine pages done in my wedding album and had some nice conversation with two twin mamas that I really didn’t know very well before last night. But the whole thing seemed like such a huge waste of money. The food sucked. It was sandwiches from Blimpies, with puffed cheese balls, Cheez-It crackers, and bowls of Hot Tamales and peanut M&M’s. They had an ice bucket with styrofoam cups and 2-liter bottles of soda (no diet! For a huge room full of women!) I ended up having to pay for myself and RaeJean, who had a migraine and couldn’t make it, so it cost me $30. Even though they were full to capacity and turning people away. I have no doubt they sold the spot that I paid for. The giveaway thing was just a little kit for making a scrapbook page - it had, like, one or two sheets of cardstock, a couple of brads, some ribbon - ooooh. Glad I spent fifteen bucks on that! I did make them give me the kit RaeJean would have gotten, too. As far as demonstrations go - if you wanted to see how something was made, you had to leave the room and go to a little table across the store to look. The employee couldn’t just hold that shit up and show everyone in the room, apparently. I have no idea what a “make-and-take” even is, because it was never mentioned.
All in all, I did have a good time, I’m glad I went, but I would have been JUST as happy scrapbooking at someone’s house (for free!) and ordering pizza or something. I ended up spending way more money than I wanted to last night, and I’m feeling all bitter about it! Bah! Archiver’s can bite me!

What a bummer that it wasn’t all that you expected. I am glad you had a good time, anyway.

Nine pages??? That is quite an accomplishment! That would take me liek three weeks.

awesome on the 9 pages!!
Make and takes are SUPPOSED to be like a little mini class. Teach EACH person how to make, for example, a holiday gift tag to be used in their albums. Pisses me off when mega stores like Archivers (YUCK…hate them! LOL) overcharge for their crops, serve shitty food and then don’t even hold up on their end of the good stuff!
Sorry it was craptastical in parts, but so glad you made two more friends!!
