Wah. My best friend called and said she woke up feeling awful, so we’re not having our regular Friday playdate. Dammit! I so wanted to hang out at the mall and eat Subway and go to Hot Topic and the Christmas store and let the kids play in the play area. I was going to do all that stuff yesterday, but decided I should wait and do it with her instead. We ended up going to lunch with Daddy and Uncle Mike and that was nice. It snowed almost all day, so it wasn’t much fun driving, but it was nice getting out!
I think we should go somewhere anyway, since it’s back up in the 50s and sunny today. Maybe I’ll make my Thanksgiving shopping list and go hit the supermarket. It’s not too early for that, is it? We’re deep frying our turkey again this year. We did our first one last year and everybody loved it. I’m not a huge fan of turkey, AND, I was big and pregnant, but I do remember thinking it was better than the average dead bird! I’m also making a ham. My mom is making her famous cornbread dressing, that yam thing with the marshmallows on top, and my dad wanted to be in charge of desserts, so we’ll see what that involves. I’ll probably also make the obligatory green bean casserole and broccoli rice casserole, and some yummy mashed potatoes too. I swear, as I get older, my favorite thing out of all of that is the mashed potatoes!! I never really crave any of that except the potatoes. And I’m not even going to try to make any of it healthy. It’s one day, and I’m not counting points on Thanksgiving. I am, however, sending the leftovers home with everyone!!
Oh, hey! I know what I wanted to mention. Misty raved about Delsym cough syrup the other day and I wanted to try it, because Lexi’s had a BAD cough. So I picked some up yesterday. (I actually had to call Kim from the parking lot at Target and have her get online and go to my blog, and then go to her blog to tell me the name of it because I forgot.) Well, she was absolutely right - it’s the best cough syrup we’ve ever tried. Lexi just coughed a couple of times, really softly, all night long. This was after her coughing until she was red in the face all day long! Good stuff, baby. Two thumbs up. Four, really. Lexi has her tiny thumbs raised as well!
Off I go to make four little breakfasts and dress four little monkeys. Have a nice Friday!

No, not too early to do the Thanksgiving shopping. I saw tons of people at King Soopers yesterday getting all the stuff. Dad and I are heading out really early tomorrow to do our shopping. One, to avoid the crowds and two, to give the bird time to defrost. I’m going to try making pumpkin pie from scratch this year. Have you ever made a pie crust from scratch? Any advice from you or your many readers would be greatly appreciated!
Have a good time going out!
